Don’t know how these DVDs were made, but any chance they could be PAL versus NTSC? If that’s not it, how about replacing the current composite cable? You say you’ve tried the DVDs on a couple other players, but were they all the same brand/model? Can you use one of the players where it works correctly to play out into the Mojo? Lastly, have you rebooted both the computer and the Mojo? Sometimes…

Tom,
Check the video input setting in Avid. Sometimes, especially when you restart the application, the video input settings default back to s-video, IIRC.

What’s not coming through, the video, the audio or both?

A 6-10 frame glow using Boris or Sapphire looks pretty much like a film flash.
If you don’t have these programs, you can always use a dip-to-color transition. It’s in the quick transition tool. You apply it, then enter the effect mode and change the background color to white.

MXF is definately the way to go. It’s what all modern Avid systems use for HD (not OMF). Be sure to follow the procedures outlined here for delivery of files to the post facility:

Dale,
Are you working in Picture Cache Record Mode, Interval Record Mode, or VFR (Variable Frame Rate) Mode (UCC/OCC – Undercrank/Overcrank)? Avid does not batch import these modes. Otherwise, is the firmware current for the Sony decks?

Rob,
Since “you know,” then we don’t need to tell ya that the iMac specs are not what is recommended. Even though your processor speed and RAM are all beefy enough, and you have newer drivers, is the card from the GeForce family?

Be sure you are using QT 7.1 and OS 10.4.6 for that version of MC and your Mac.
If you click on the MC 2.6 link, it will pull up the readme as well.

Steve,
Upon import into Avid, the clip is then at the project’s resolution. This is the case whether you crop, pad, resize or do nothing to the clip…still the project resolution size (i.e., 720 X 486). If you need to work with larger files, within Avid there is Pan and Zoom. Otherwise it would need to be in another compositing program like AE or Boris RED.Regards,
