also, i have done some testing with upconverting through the Kona (which is what we have) and wasn’t very impressed with the quality. we use a Leitch to upconvert, or an SR…and they seem to be very clean…maybe I can go through your article and manipulate it a bit to use the outboard upconverter. Looking forward to it!

thanks, does media manager take the clips offline? or just decompose the sequence? i did look in there, but under the gun at the time, didn’t have time to fiddle with it…I have used that to consolidate the media from a sequence to another drive, but that copied the media which i didn’t want to do…i’ll check the options again since i have some time in another room.

that’s what i was thinking, but it didn’t relink…
here’s the situation…
project came in from out of house…we are hirezzing it, color correcting, and outputting…
sequence was edited DVCProHD@23.98…footage I’m having issues with are SD, Beta SP and Digibeta sources) captured @ 29.97, edited in the 23.98 sequence…we need to upconvert the footage, and be done…
but issue is 29.97 footage in 23.98 sequence…if I “decompose” the sequence, the new clips are referencing 23.98, but the source footage is really 29.97.are you saying if I select the DVCPro 23.98 capture codec, and recapture the footage, it will read the 29.97 tape, but make the new clips 23.98?

also, in Microsoft word, similar issue…which really points to OS…corrupt font maybe? anyway to change the default font being used?

but this only had to be done in one system…apparently, there is a mismatch of Quicktime, which I will look into, which may have caused an issue as well.

or, are both aspects true 16×9?

i believe it was 1280×1020…that is still strange that it plays back in AVID though. so is there a way in AE to change the aspect without screwing up the relationships of all the graphics in the composition?

in this particular case, AE comp was only going into FCP to output…so no keying or anything, just seeing if there was a faster way to get AE to tape…aside from going to priemere which who knows how much would have to be rendered anyway….we just output QTs, and actually output it from an AVID…field issues from AE output into FCP…but that’s another story…it was a rush, and we explored the fastest easiest way to tape for live show tonight (SNL)
