October 8, 2008 at 7:50 pmYou can render any format you you want directly from AE. Animation with alphas, Uncompressed 8-Bit, DVCProHD etc. Just select the output format you want when rendering.

October 8, 2008 at 8:03 pmI don’t understand. How would you get the composition to FCP other than rendering it? FCP isn’t Premiere, where Premiere can read the composition. It can do that because it is made by the same company…cross compatibility and great interoperability. FCP doesn’t do this…it needs the quicktime.

October 9, 2008 at 2:02 amI think that there is no way apart from rendering a QT movie. AutomaticDuck can’t do it.

October 9, 2008 at 12:53 pmHuh? FCP projects open in AE through the Duck. I’ve seen it done.
Have a wonderful day.

October 9, 2008 at 1:33 pmthat was my question, if there was a way to get AE into FCP without rendering it…but i guess we can’t.
AVID DS takes in Photoshop and Illustrator files as layers (but not AE)..I was wondering if there was a way to do something similiar. Thanks for the answers.
Is there a best way to export field dominance? Since FCP automatically pops upper field first when you import the movie, (although it can be changed, and sequence can be changed) is it better to spit out the original movie upper first from AE to bring it into FCP…so FCP isn’t rearranging fields?

October 9, 2008 at 1:37 pmHey Chris,
We are talking about the opposite: AE projects open in FC.

October 9, 2008 at 1:39 pmWhen you render in AE, you can set the field dominance to Upper/Lower or Off if you are working in Progressive.
When you are ready to ‘Make Movie’, under Render Settings, you have the option to match what your working with in FCP. You can save that as a preference so It always is set for you.

> any way to get my AE composition ito Final Cut other than exporting a quicktime?< It's rather like asking can my Xcel spreadsheet open in iPhoto. Answer is, yes, if you take a screen shot and save as jpg. bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
