First make sure you are running the current version of Vegas Pro, there are known issues with certain file types and versions of Vegas.. Then see if those clips that are showing to be offline will still play from the timeline. (Solo the track and check) If they do they click on the media that show offline and select “Select in Project Media List” then from the Project window select “replace” , then select the same clip again to replace it with. That will force Vegas to rewrite the location. Let me know if this helps.

Understand that completely, I’m glad it worked out. It is always good to learn what the final solution was. There are an unlimited number of scenarios and this is the best place to share those so we all can learn a little more.

If you don’t know how to keyframe then just add another track and split the main track where you want the split view. Drag your clip to the new track and use the track motion to resize the clip. Of course you will need to resize the other clip as well. Hope this helps.

OK I understand what you want to do. You will need to keyframe the main video with the motion tracking and set the motion tracking to what you desire in the second clip. If you don’t know how to keyframe look in the help files or look on You Tube there are many very good tutorials. Basically you will tell the track to stay at one size until reaching the split view. It’s not hard to do you just have to line your media where you would like the split and then keyframe that into the track motion.

It should recognize the files. Are these files being rendered in Vegas using the proper template?

Are you using just one video clip and trying to split screen that?
If so then you can certainly use the pan/crop to do that but if you want control over both halves independently you will need to put the same clip on two tracks.
Otherwise if you have two tracks the track motion will certainly work very well and you wont have to crop anything. Let me know if this is what you need.

The track motion will affect the entire track unless you keyframe it not to. So if you do not want to do that then yes place your video on a separate track and then only that will be affected.
If I understand you correctly you are getting a different shading of the black border on the track you have resized the clips. How did you create the border? The way I suggested in the prior post is the easiest way to do it. But is you are oging to have a black border and then resize the clip you will no longer have a definable border as it will blend in. I would suggest not having a black border unless you use a white background. It would look better to stay with the black and use a white border instead. Or if you want to get a little more fancy use the Border FX and add that to your clip.

You can use the track motion to make it the size you desire and you’ll have a black background. You can make any color border you’d like by adding another track below it, right click on the time line and select generated media, then solid color. All you have to do then is pan/crop the image to fit your video. Hope this helps.
