Here’s an interesting question. Is there any way to use the aux system in particular to “eject” random still frames from something other than the custom particle layer. In other words have something totally different generated from the aux system (i.e. still frames from another layer with many random stills in it)
This would be so cool if all kinds of crazy particle could shoot out of the AUX system when following a emitter path.

It’s so short that I’d clone tool roto each frame individually by setting the tool to a single frame duration and advance a frame at a time painting each frame in succession. With a good feather on the clone tool to minimize the shifting pixels on the edge it should work great. some frames you will be able to span with a single clone pass while other need individual attention. You have plenty of “leaf shadow and open ground” to sample from to cover the boom shadow
A little more time consuming than a track but not more than you have already spent right?

I agree. It is suspect. But then again I’m in the middle of a spec project for a low budge pilot so what do I know!

Sounds like the gain on the cam got turned up. That sucks if it’s the case because Panasonic (and most others) get grainy fast at increased gains.
Have you tried choking the key using the matte chokers in AE. Of course, if you have them, you can try third party keyers in AE. Sometimes I key, choke, and add a secondary key on top (that sounds kinda wierd huh?)

Definitely follow up once. It’s not being a pest to attempt one follow up. It’s when you call every week or 10 days for 2 months in a row people will get annoyed.
If your getting a 10% response rate on you mailing your actually doing very well. I usually say that I get bites on between 5% and 10% of my cold calls or emails.

I agree. What I usually do is show the relevant demo material (as you do) and then give references that are industry based. For example, maybe someone who worked on the specified project with you or a media industry leader that may be a personal friend. This way they have a professional, respectable and knowledgeable contact that is not the client. I don’t even use references on my resum

I guess 10 years of editing, GFX, and 3D has done me no good since, “A good fcp editor” knows the keyboard shortcut to make a freeze frame in FCP!
By the way, how do you get an alpha channel with opacity of just the bug and not the footage behind it with shift+n? This works if you want to freeze the entire frame and if you nest the clip in another sequence with no transparency but it does not work with transparency (the transparency gets pre-multiplied). That’s why I failed to mention this method. It does not work as far as I know, but I have been known to be wrong.
However, if you have a good method that works in conjunction with the amazing “shift+n” function, I’m sure we’d all love to hear it instead of getting a keyboard shortcut lesson.

I think most people achieving this are using real flow or they are using alpha/luma mask royalty free stuff.
