Ron,
You’re right and please see my other post. I’m just totally frustrated. I did do my homework and, you’re correct, I chose not to listen. However, forging ahead has never been easy in the tech world. I just hope this is resolved soon. I love FCP and AE together and I feel like I made a decision to stick with what I know (death to most in the tech world). Thanks for you words of wisdom. $$ is tight here and I’m kicking myself now.
Sometimes until we make the mistakes ourself, it’s hard to listen to others advice.

Ron,
Wow, wonderful to hear from you. You’ve been an inspiration to me for many years.
I agree that sticking with Mac is not nec. the answer. However, I run a small 2 suite house which until recently was only one suite. After spending upwards of $20,000 on the second system I’m just a bit frustrated. I’m not able to spend the money again. And FCP is very important to us. I could see switching to an Adobe based editor. I’ve used it in the past and have no problem with it. However, it seems that FCP has the higest number of users, which makes finding talent easier.
Also, I have 2 Aja IOs which would become useless if we move to PC and right now I can’t afford to totally turn my ship around.
You are correct. If I had the money I’d seriously consider switching to PC. However, I’m still paying off the credit cards on the new Apple. My mistake, but it’s all I know.
Once again, great to hear from you directly. It gives me great faith that some things in this world are realy what they seem. The COW rocks and thank you for all of you hard work to create such an awesome tool for creative profs…

Here is a thread I started on the same issue. No solutions but you may want to read my thoughts…

YEP, I hear your pain. This issue is being downplayed by everyone involved and it’s killing my business. What can we do? Class action (Ha, Ha). We need to get more people that are having these issues with AE and intel macs to speak up and get together somewhere. Since one voice is not loud enough may be we need 100 to scream….

That’s what Apple want’s you to do. They’re killing Shake, ostracizing adobe, and Pushing motion (yes, a by far inferior program). This is not good. I’m afraid we’re going to see another Avid (moving it’s platform to PC) move from Adobe. I hope not. It would kill my post business to have to re-invest in all of my hardware…

September 19, 2006 at 4:00 am in reply to: IO picture is brighter when FCP is paused???I trashed the prefs, plist file, caches, and aja preset folder. Re-installed the 3.1 driver and re-booted and the problem is gone! Thanks for the help…

I went to the firmtek site and see the cards and enclosures. However, they do not come with drives. What kind of drives are reccomended? Where should I buy them from? Is there a difference between the 3GB and 1.5GB drives? I’m an old school SCSI dude. This is all new to me.

You could use a patch bay to run the audio through. Then you can disconnect the input or out put depending upon what you are doing and eliminate the feedback loop. Since all outs are live on the IO when you digitize from the beta the audio signal is being fed back to the beta deck. Real bad, loud, ear piercing feedback will occur. A mixing board would work as well. You can mute channels accordingly…
Hope this helps,
