    What is the concept?

Taping a concert with a nice jib and 3-4 other cams (shooters with their own gear), live switch to tape or hard drive, ISo records for editing, 24 channel audio split for sweetening, pre-pro, engineering, 2-4 grip/tech people, producer, DOP, and director can cost a bunch.

Minimum for SD quality record: 25-35K

    Minimum for HD record: 45-55k

Bummer here is that this does not include post and mastering.

I’ve done a lot of this and I would not do it for less than 25k for the shoot alone (totally bare bones)

What do you other COWers think?

    Hey all,

I just read the entire post and her is my 47.5 yen.

Is this really what the COW was designed to do? Please let’s keep it cool. Words can be hard to interpret on the screen. This is the best forum ever created (thanks Ron).

Let’s keep it positive. A lot of stuff sucks (oh hell, I’m a professional an I said sucks) but the people that post here want help in a constructive way. I know that it sometimes means constructive criticism, but, be gentile if possible. We’re all in the same boat and just need a bit of advice

    Peace all,

After posting this the client and I signed a contract that states I’m not allowed to share quite yet. I will be able to disclose how I did this effect after the show airs on TV. I have an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) with the client. I wish I could be of more help right now but my contract prohibits me to be.

I absolutely want to share and I will as soon as I can. Thanks for your support and interest in my work. There is nothing better than to get praise from fellow motion GFX people.

The road is created by particular and I thought it would bee cool to emit people from the aux system from the road. Crazy I know but I think it would be kinda cool…

If you use the deinterlace blur on smaller sized pics it may not be as noticeable. When you have huge files you need to crank the blur up to 3 or even as high as 6 or 7 to get the deinterlace effect to work. If the pics are the resolution you need them for the scree and 72 dpi, a .5 – 1.0 should be enough to fix the problem. I usually would rather the pics be a bit soft than to have them vibrating all over the screen.

    AND

TV is a horrible resolution! If your in SD no one except you (and maybe the client, but you can tell them that’s just how it is) will ever notice the blur. Especially by the time it gets re-compressed, sent to the satelite, re-compressed, beamed back down, re-compressed, sent to local stations, re-compressed, and delivered to the tube! I’ve seen stuff that in playback off the edit system rings like mad and no one ever fixed it. Then I saw the spots on TV and there was no ringing at all.

I don’t know if this will work for me but I get it and it’s a great way to emit custom particles from the AUX system. My problem is that I am using a light following a path as an emitter. Not sure how setting up the bounce plane works and I have about 19 particle layers with different vanish and start points (so I can use multiple obstruction layers)

When you say you used expressions (one of my biggest AE weaknesses) did you use the pick whip to set up the emitters to be the same?

I’ll have a sample rendered out soon to post so you can tell me if you think it’s possible or not.

    Thanks,

I wish I was as loquacious as Aharon. if you check out this link:

all of the floral elements were created in Trapcode Echospace to circle around the girls. I’m terrible at explaining how I did it but it’s not so bad. Basically start a comp and bring in the hearts. Apply echospace and choose, say 20 instances, hit the repeat button. Use y rotate in echospace to spread them out around a circle. then use the null layer “main” rotation property(created when you hit the repeat button in echospace) to make the ring of hearts rotate.

Copy all of this into the comp with the girl (a 3d layer I’m assuming) and shy all layers except the “main” layer (to use for control) Position the null layer approx where the girl is and watch the hearts spin around her!

    Hope this helps…

echospace works great for this. check out this link on my website:

all the florals going around the girls were created with Trapecode Echospace.

it’s kinda tricky but play with it. you’ll get it.

photoshop baby, black lines, orange background, and lighter orange polka dots (polka dots?) distributed evenly. The map will get a bit funky at the top and bottom but just dont show that part!
