Whenever an issue arises with Get Current Sequence from EDL Manager, I tend to use the “manual” way, which is:
– In MC, save the bin containing the current version of the sequence
– go to EDL Manager
– In EDL Manager, choose “Open”, and manually navigate to the location of the bin with the sequence you need the EDL of.

Get Current Sequence seems to require MC to create an AAF which then is pulled in by EDL Manager. This does not always work correctly. The “classic” Open Bin method works better, in my experience.

I think what you are looking for is the transcode feature. This would allow you to take a DNxHD175(x) master clip and transcode it to DNxHD36, with the option of preserving the 175(x) original.

If you import DV Quicktimes with 601 video levels, you should get a fast import.

Very simple.
You import the 720/23.976p footage into a (new or existing) 720/23.976p project.

Then open or create a 30i, and through File->Open Bin, browse to the folder(s) of your 720 project.

My experience has been very different. Most stable Avids I ever worked on were MC5 NuVista on an 8100 (fast) and MC7 ABVB on 9600’s.
But “new-numbered” MC v3, 3.5 and 4 have been very stable for me and nearly bug-free. Not more buggy than the Meridiens were. Much more responsive, much more poweful.

I’ll admit to having skipped Adrenaline. Went from MC9000XL Meridien v12 to Symphony Nitris v1.7 (and soon thereafter SN 3.0), because I did not like Adrenaline. Also own a Mojo SDI.

Ever since v3, these updates have been worth every cent for me.

3.0 brought along a severely improved response of the software, plus multilayer multiformat playback, among other things.
3.5 brought AMA and keyframeable color correction, among other things.
4.0 brought mix&match framerates, among other things.

O yeah, all of this at a fraction of the usual price of updates.

It’s OK if you’re fed up with a mfg or vendor, but it would be best to stick to the facts at the same time.

Find the EQII.dpm and DynamicsII.dpm from an old system or a friend, they might even reside in a subfolder named “Plugins (Unused)”. Those packages contain the “old” versions of the AudioSuite plugins, which for some reason were left out of the newer versions of the software (ruining compatibility with older sequences). The new versions are EQIII.dpm and DynamicsIII.dpm.

They should live here:

Win:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Digidesign\DAE\Plug-Ins\

Mac:
[boot volume]/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins/

You need not remove the newer ones to install the older ones.

In a sync clip, both picture and sound keep their original TC. So any audio EDL based on source TC should work for you.
If you want to track the original TC from the BWAVs in a column of your sync clips, simply open a bin with your imported BWAV’s, highlight the Start TC column and CTRL-D or CMD-D will let you copy all the Start TC values into either SoundTC or AuxTC. If you then set your bins with sync clips to show AuxTC or SoundTC, there you go.
