DNxHD resolutions are only available in HD projects, not SD.

Check out Random Video’s MediaMover or MDV (Russian freeware).

  • Are you using AMA or regular imports? If the latter is the case, you may need to read up on the console command “IgnoreQTRate True”. It will import frame-by-frame, as long as the audio is stripped from the clip.

    Take the OMF files offline.

Go into an SD project, set your media creation preferences to an OMF compression type, and either create tone media from the Audio Tool or import some random graphic. Then select that imported clip, choose File->Reveal file, and make sure that you drag your OMF media into that very same newly created OMFI MediaFiles folder.

    Oops, sent too soon.

I think, however, that if you upgrade your dongle to any current version, it will allow you to run any older version. So if you upgrade your dongle to 5.x, you can run any 2.x, 3.x, 4.x version (which you can download from the Avid website).

I don’t think Avid will sell you an upgrade to an old version of the SW.

You can’t do that in Avid MC, as it will rescale the original into the project canvas size (max 1920×1080). There’s Pan&Zoom, which allows you to access larger still files and animate those, but I doubt it will take pictures bigger than 4K.

My bet it is it will work.
The good thing is that there is a free 30-day fully functional trail version of MC you can download.
So you can test if it works on your computer. If it does work, buy it.

“Eating Tapes is generally caused by a defective reel motor or a stuck guide in the tape path. Defective reel motors are always replaced as a set of two. Eating tapes is often associated with error 1,2,3,4,5.”

One option would be to add an Animatte effect, which allows you to draw up various shapes, using a soft brush if you like.
