Depends a little on the shot. I’ve seen people enlarge 2K 35mm scans by as much as 33%. That’s from 2048. Alexa is 1920.

Strobey is what people associate film look with. Rather than mixing down to 2:1s (which is a quarter frame resolution), I would do a same-as-source mixdown, then add a Timewarp, set it to 100% speed, choose ‘Interlaced’ as input, choose ‘Progressive’ as output, and choose either FluidMotion or Blended Interpolated.
Other than that, there are plugins that simulate film looks by boosting color and/or contrast. One trick that usually helps a bit is actually desaturating, while adding contrast.

It’s exactly the same.

You can only read those MXF files if they are Avid mediafiles, and if you place them in the right folder structure:

X:/Avid MediaFiles/MXF/1

‘X’ can be any drive (preferable not your system drive, though).
‘1’ can be any number (don’t put more than 5000 files in one folder).

If you have place the media there, either find it by opening the Media Tool and dragging the clips from the Media Tool into bins; or, from the MXF/1 folder, take the file that says ‘msm.db’ and drag that into a bin.

Sorry, FIRST apply the TimeWarp effect from the Effects Palette. Then open the Motion Effect Editor, etc.

Tools->Motion Effect Editor. Click the TimeGraph or the PositionGraph. There you can set keyframes to set ramping positions and speeds.

Pretty sure that they do different things. Media Copy lets you find all media associated with an AAF composition. Media Mover finds the project association for media on any drive, then lets you sift them into separate folders.

Avid has limited options for exporting. IMHO, it is best to output Same-As-Source or QT Ref from Avid, then use a 3rd party encoder (Sorensen Squeeze e.g.) to create the file you need.

I think you can change frame size with CMD-K / CMD-L (Mac) or CTRL-K / CTRL-L (PC). Not sure, but give it a try.

You can’t edit text, AFAIK.
