My Mac Pro is an “Early 2008 model” with PCIe slots. Thanks for the suggestion. Which card of these companies would you indicate to get a RAID 5 hardware implementation?

I wish I read this thread before buying this RAID solution from PROAVIO (RR 3522 + EditBox 4MS). I got into the same problem (no problems to write to the array RAID 5 but intermittent errors with reading or copying files that freezes FCP or Finder). After several months asking PROAVIO support by email with no answer, and buying and changing a new mini-SAS cable for $120 without success, I called them by phone and they said that my card (by the serial number) belongs to a batch that is defective and should be replaced. I’ve already sent the card to PROAVIO, but at this time I guess that even receiving another card is not a guarantee that the problem will cease. A friend of mine said that BH isn’t selling RR3522 anymore, it is discontinued there. So, what do you guys recommend? Is there any other options of controller cards to use with EditBox that really works? Should I wait and try the replacement card that they said they will send to me? Or should I forget this thing, consider that I lost my money, and buy another solution from CalDigit or other more reliable company?

Yep, you are right. I’ve already tested it yesterday, and fortunatelly, there is an option to convert the output from a 24p sequence to these frame rates.

Hey Luke, I just would like to understand why I didn’t get any answer from you to my question. You are always so solicitous with everyone, including were with me in other occasions. Did I say anything wrong or have any misconduct?

Thanks for the attention! I have just the basics here. For now I am using a Betacam SP UVW-1800 deck, a Sony PVM-14M4U monitor, a Sony DSR-11 DV/DVCAM deck, and a Horita box CSG-50. But, from time to time, when I need, I get a rented Digibeta or HD deck.

Thanks for your answer. Yes, it seems like that is the most accepted understanding about this concept. It was very helpful to me and my work.

Thanks, Mark. I tend to understand this concept like you. But I’ve heard from a computer graphics reseacher that 2.5D would be ordinary 2D compositing that simulates 3D using overlaps, dropshadows, geometric distortions and other effects and object manipulations. He said that the use of virtual camera in the 3D space with 2D objects can be considered a special kind of 3D animation. Have you ever heard anyone endorsing this point of view? I think it is important to clarify the meaning of certain concepts, especially when we are producing knowledge.

Now I noticed that the press release from Bluefish that I read about Matt Dowling was writen in 2003. So I presume that Matt worked for Bluefish and now works for BMD. Including I can see that Matt Dowling is posting here. Sorry about that misunderstanding. It seems that BMD and Digital Voodoo are real competitors, as it should be expected.

Is this new driver just for Multibridge Extreme model or also works with the Multibridge HD model?
    Thanks!
