I am looking for a robust solution for large data backup based on LTO tape drive. So, I am considering to purchase a tape drive Quantum TC-L51BN-AR LTO-5 FH, Tabletop Kit, 6Gb/s SAS, black, to use with a Mac Pro computer as the main workstation. In this case, is this possible to use the Atto ExpressSAS H680
Low-Profile 8-External Port 6Gb/s SAS/SATA PCIe 2.0 Host Adapter and the software Retrospect® for Mac 8 with the Quantum tape drive?
Thanks in advance for any help!

I’d look in to Cache-A. All you need is an ethernet connection, no backup software needed.

If you are concerned with formats, or more precise universal readability, I would suggest just linux and TAR in POSIX flavor. We went this route with Quantum and their bundled SAS controller.

But it takes a little typing in terminal, so not so elegant.
