I have been using ARD for over 10 years with my Macs here at the college. I started using it with FCP 7 and now Premiere (and all Adobe products). All of my computers are on a gigabit switch running all machines at 1000baseT. I have had problems with the computers I am looking at very rarely. And it was only with Pro Tools. I can watch as many computers as I like, anywhere from the 14 in my classroom to the entire system of 60 computers in all rooms, without a slow down.

If your machines are going through a gigabit switch on the Ethernet, I have no idea what is happening.

Are you using Version 2017.0.2 Release. I know the latest update took care of a lot of the shortcut problems that I had.

I use Shift+3 to access the Timeline when I am in another panel. Once in the timeline panel, Shift+3 will switch from sequence to sequence. It is working for me.

Do your color correction on the master clip, highlight the effect(s) in the Effect Controls tab, click on the menu bars and select “Save Preset”.

It will save everything you highlighted. Go to your next master clip and drag that preset from the Effects Tab up the new master clip.

Try saving your project with another name. Close the project and open the one with the new name.

My students will sometimes come into class, open their project that was working fine and just an audio track comes up. I have found that saving the project under another name (all I do is add a number after the current file name) and then closing and reopening the new save, they can recover their missing tracks.

When placing a transition after keyframes are set – the program will add handles in the Effect Controls panel. You will notice that the keyframe at the end of the clip is not at the edge of the window.

Just drag that keyframe to the edge of the window put the playhead in effect controls on that last keyframe and you will see the playhead is now at the end of the dissolve.

Same thing works for the head of the clip.

You can still work with the Cross Dissolve in the Timeline to adjust where the effect starts by dragging it on the timeline, As Tim pointed out earlier in this thread, you can change the length by dragging the edges of the effect or one side by holding down the shift key while dragging. If you just want to change the length without dragging, you can double-click on the effect and a box will pop up with a duration that can be changed.

Going to Effects Controls is really an extra step for a cross dissolve when you can do everything on the Timeline.

That worked for me as well. Opened a project in 2014 that was started in CC and the Dissolve Effect shows in the Effect Controls. However, I added another dissolve in the 2014 Timeline and the Effect Controls does not show anything except the words “Cross Dissolve”

Additive, Non-Additive and Film Dissolves all show up in Effect Controls.

Could you try to add another Cross Dissolve in the 2014 Timeline and see if the Effect Controls shows anything?

Jim is right in one respect. The cross dissolve dialog in Effects Control is missing in 2014. No A/B or adjust effect in the upper right, duration, or alignment. I was trying to show my students the different ways to adjust a transition. I know that I can do everything I might need to do to a transition on the Timeline. I have included 2 screen shots of CC and 2014 to show what is happening in 2014.

Go to the Timeline Menu and uncheck Rectified Audio Waveforms. That should do the trick.
