Thanks to those who at least responded a little. I’m still hoping to get an answer to question 4.

  • Thanks, John, I should have thought of that. It was set to vegas120.exe. I’ve never had that change in all my years using Vegas. Don’t know how or why it got changed.

Thanks, John. I am using firewire and your words stirred me to check the firewire cable connection to my desktop. It had backed out just enough to lose the connection so I pushed it in and all is well. Just didn’t expect that to be the problem since it’s never backed out before. The simple solutions are always the best ones.

  • With VP10 installed search for all “open with Vegas 10” instances in the Registry and change them to Vegas 11, that might work.

  • Search for my post “Media Manager and Nested veg Issues resolved In VP11”. Setting the program defaults to VP11 didn’t fix the problem. First transfer all of your plugins to VP11, then uninstall VP10, then use regedit to seach in the Regestry for Vegas 10 and either change all instances to Vegas 11 or delete them if Vegas 11 is duplicated there. It worked for me.

I’ve already set the file associations to vegas 11 as I stated in detail in a previous response. It doesn’t stop the veg files from opening in Vegas 10. Opening each veg file and saving it in Vegas 11 is a waste of time. I appreciate your input but I’m looking for a solution that will simply open the veg files In Vegas 11.

I am using a Ready2Go project from Digital Juice. I open the main project in Vegas 11. It contains several veg files. When I Rt click on one and choose “edit in Vegas” it opens in Vegas 10. I then edit the file and save it. Then go back to the main project in Vegas 11 and find the edits showing and save it. If I want to then edit it some more I just repeat the process. So it does allow me to keep saving the edit in Vegas 10 even though it’s saved inside a Vegas 11 project. Again, I just want to use Vegas 11 exclusively and not Vegas 10 at all. That’s where I need the help.

Thanks for the input but I found most of the problem. I had Vegas Pro 10 and after purchasing Vegas Pro 11 I decided to install it without uninstalling Vegas Pro 10 since there were several reported issues with Vegas 11. Once I was using Vegas 11 with minimal crashes I renamed the Vegas 10 .exe file so it could not be opened. That was causing the problem. Whenever I tried to edit a veg file in a project it wanted to open it in Vegas 10 and not Vegas 11, hence the error message I indicated initially. Once I set the Vegas 10 exe file back to default I could then edit the veg file in Vegas 10. The trouble is I want to use Vegas 11 to edit my veg files and not Vegas 10 but I can’t find how to change that. Yes, I have set the Windows 7 default for veg files to Vegas 11 and the veg files show the Vegas 11 icon but they still open in Vegas 10 when I edit them in a project. This is driving me nuts…any suggestions short of uninstalling Vegas 10 and reinstalling vegas 11?
