Edit in Vegas (xxx.veg) launches V10 to open and I want V11
Posted by Jim Greene on August 4, 2012 at 3:29 pmI have V10 & V11 installed, I have a V11 project with a nested veg and when I right-click to “Edit in Vegas (xxx.veg)”, it launches V10 — which will not work, because the nested veg is also V11. How do I change this to default to V11? Thanks.
-Jim.

August 4, 2012 at 11:01 pmOpen Vegas 11 and click on File then open and select
your project, then when its fully loaded on your timeline, click
File then Save…..That’s it, now when you open it,
it will be defaulted to Vegas 11.
(Remember however, it cannot be opened again in Vegas 10 after
doing this).Steve Rhoden

August 5, 2012 at 3:07 pmSearch for my post “Media Manager and Nested veg Issues resolved In VP11”. Setting the program defaults to VP11 didn’t fix the problem. First transfer all of your plugins to VP11, then uninstall VP10, then use regedit to seach in the Regestry for Vegas 10 and either change all instances to Vegas 11 or delete them if Vegas 11 is duplicated there. It worked for me.

August 6, 2012 at 1:21 pmThanks all. My computer defaults properly to open V11 from the explorer, it just defaults to V10 from within V11 when trying to open a V11 nested veg while editing a V11 veg. I’ll look into Jim P’s suggestion about the registry, but I don’t want to uninstall V10 just for this issue.

August 6, 2012 at 4:19 pmWith VP10 installed search for all “open with Vegas 10” instances in the Registry and change them to Vegas 11, that might work.

August 7, 2012 at 12:33 pmUninstall Vegas 10 and open the project and re-save…
then reinstall.
BUT, Given the hiccups Vegas has noww-a-days, i would recommend
you have one version installed and stick to it Jim.Steve Rhoden
