Dumb me. I’ve been using Vegas Pro for 5 years and never realized you could drag and drop media directly to the timeline. I’ve always used the Import Media dropdown. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!!!

I tried to get the $130 upgrade (from 9e to 10) but the download price shown in my account on sony’s website is $239. Anybody know what gives and how I get the $130 price?

May 27, 2009 at 10:07 pm in reply to: Vegas 9 pro and Boris/Prodad?

    John,

I recently installed 9.0 pro. So far, so good. I use Boris FX and simply moved the presets to the 9.0 folder. So far they do appear and the ones I’ve tried work the same as 8.0. Do you know what incompatibilities, if any, there might be and what/when Boris will do to address them/

    Thanks,

March 19, 2009 at 5:10 am in reply to: DVDA recompression

Thanks, John. It does appear to work fine with Blueray setting, though I can’t see what’s different.

One last question. The manual/training video says that chapter/scene markers are preserved from Vegas 8 to DVDA if you check the appropriate boxes for rendering. This does not seem to work on my system. No markers show in DVDA. Any clue what I’m missing?

March 4, 2009 at 8:03 pm in reply to: Rendering HD video to SD for DVD

When I started using Vegas with HD I had similar problems. I was getting various jagged edges and poor quality going to SD. I tried numerous bit rates and templates but never found one satisfactory. I now use Procoder (old Canopus). I render to m2t from the Vegas timeline, then use Procoder to go to mpeg2. It is fast, efficient and gives much better results for subsequent authoring.

Thanks, John, for the “reassurance” Any recommendation on what capture programs(s) to use for HDV? I used to use Scenalyzer with great success, but understand it won’t handle HDV.
