adding sound effects in vegas 11
I have a bunch ow sound effects .wav files (Sony’s 1,001 sound effects, etc.). Is there a way using presets in Vegas to access them all without having to import them individually using the import media function? If so, how do I set this up? Doing it individually is a nussiance.

I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking (i.e. do you want all 1001 sound effects in your project), but I have the same Sony sound FX stored on a separate drive (labeled “Media”). When I want a sound FX, I simply navigate from within Vegas, using the Explore tab, to the Media \ Sony SFX folder and select one or more sound FX to bring into my project. You can select individual (non-contiguous) files by holding Ctrl while left-clicking on the files, (contiguous) groups of files by selecting the first file then holding down Shift while selecting the last file in a group, or a single file. Once selected, you can drag them to your timeline or double-click to have them deposited onto your timeline.

Dumb me. I’ve been using Vegas Pro for 5 years and never realized you could drag and drop media directly to the timeline. I’ve always used the Import Media dropdown. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!!!

Don’t feel dumb, Vegas is a great program that has a LOT of capabilities. Many times, there are multiple ways of doing a single task (keyboard shortcut, menu command, etc.) I’m constantly learning things that I didn’t know Vegas could do, just by reading on this forum, and there’s a great group of people that are willing to share their wealth of knowledge on the various topics regarding Vegas.
