Hi Peter,
Thanks. I think I figured out what’s happening. I copied the original transition as a preset in Vegas. When I layed it down as a subsequent transition V! to V2 it shows these in the two tracks as V! and V2. However, when I look in the “Face” setting for event V1 it has carried the still image from the original transition (doesn’t recognize it as video in the timeline). Changing the “Face from still to V1 solves the problem. I guess it is a quirk in Vegas.

I use Procoder all the time to go from m2t to m2v or m2p. Love it for high quality. I like editing in Vegas 8, but the results I get with their Mainconcepts codec are quite bad showing all sorts of motion artifacts no matter what settings I pick. I generally use Ulead’s Express to Author the DVD’s. Works fine. Suppose when I get to Blueray I’ll have to change to DVD-A.

Guys, this looks like the same problem I raised in my earlier post ” Rendering Jagged and Mainconcept”. Mine was all NTSC HD. Rendering to any other format but 1080 yields very jagged motion. I’ve tested renders tomultiple formats and with a variety of bit rates and settings with no change. However, If I take a rendered m2t stream and render to NTSC widescreen using Canopus procoder the footage looks great! I really am beginning to believe it is a Vegas 8 or mainconcepts bug. Any others with this issue?

Checked that, and it is setting it correctly. Any other thoughts. Also, is there any way to bring in TPA’s such as procoder as a plugin to Vegas. Sure would make life easier.

Graffiti is 5.1 and FX is 9.1. Are these still current?

Is the field order something that the encoder should do automatically, or should I have to change it when rendering to a different format?

Interesting. I did see a similar post by Suzy Shepherd which looks like the same issue. Mine occurs rendering to .mpg for burning DVD’s. Sounds like a bug in Vegas 8.0.

John, how old is your Samsung player? Any clue as to if the newer ones which came out recently will play the Pioneer disks. Also, just curious whether the same compatibility problem exists with professionally mastered Blue Ray disks (first run movies, etc.).
I have no problem with downloading and applying firmware updates (though the concept sucks!). However, once applied, were you able to play all your Blue Ray authored disks, or was it still hit and miss?

Thanks, John,
It worked perfectly. Out of curiousity, in Red can you combine titling and effects in the same effect when using Vegas. That would be much more convienient albeit expensive.

Exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks much, Peter.
