I am using a Sony MiniDV HDV camcorder. I use my Vegas 8.0 to capture a series of shots, then move them to the timeline for editing. All takes have the last frame of the next take appended to the end. I presume this is due to the compression algorythm the camcorder uses. Anyway, I then need to remove the last frame or 2 from every take to avoid “glitches” in the edited output. When a lot of takes are involved it is a pain to do this manually.

Is this problem unique to me? Is there a way to automate the process. I never had the issue editing in SD with SD source material on an older camcorder.

Unfortunately no, it is a known bug in the Vegas capture utility for HDV. You should turn off scene detection or use another utility to capture HDV.

Thanks, John, for the “reassurance” Any recommendation on what capture programs(s) to use for HDV? I used to use Scenalyzer with great success, but understand it won’t handle HDV.

Sorry I don’t use anything else. I just turned off scene detection and live with it. Some people like HDVSplit. I have never tried it.
