There is no native capability to give objects true 3D volume. For that you need something like Zaxwerks Invigorator or a true 3D app.
AE gives you 3D compositing space. Every layer is still essentially a flat screen on whose surface content appears.

Specifically which behaviors are not working?
Have you checked in the timeline window to make sure that a fade out behavior is at the end of the element’s duration bar? Behavioirs are usually applied to the beginning.

Make sure your video card has at least 256MB VRAM. If you are planning on dual monitors then go for a system that has SLI video capabilities–you can plug in 2 cards, one for each monitor.
Have your system and applications software on the main drive and install at least one extra physical drive for holding media. If you must go external, go firewire and not USB 2 (better sustained throughput).

1. Line up the video clips in the timeline so each incoming clip is above the previous clip in the timeline and starts one second (or more) before the previous one ends. The first clip will be the lowest and the last clip the highest in the TL and Layers panes.
2. Add a fade in/fade out behavior to each clip so each fades in for 1 second. Make sure that the behavior lasts the length of the clip it is attached to.
Make sure that the two clips overlap by the duration of the transition between them.

If you’re going to get the Quad upgrade to the 7800. The 6600 is fine for non-video apps but not very good for video. Video drives the card harder, especially Motion and any animation programs.
We will be seeing more and more processing pushed onto the graphics chip, so don’t skimp on it if you intend to keep your system for more than a year.
The only reason to go with a Powerbook is if you have to constantly work on site. If you go this route, be sure to bill by the hour and charge for rendering time!

You can also take a curtain and paint it in patterns using the opposite color/brightness to key out.

ACE certification is required if you want to teach for an Adobe Certified training center.
Govenrments and large corporations seem to like seeing certifications in people’s resumes, but that won’t get you a job or a raise. Good work, a positive attitude and good reputation will do that.
If it makes you feel better about yourself then by all means get it.

A new G5 Quad for Christmas. Color us jealous.
I don’t like the mighty mouse. Too easy to right-click instead of left click. That might be part of the problem. Check in your system preferences for the mouse button settings and see if one of them is set to open dashboard or expose.
