Edit suite
I am setting up an HDV edit suite I have been told that the most important element is processing power and RAM for combustion. So to fit my needs perfectly do I go AMD dual core or Intel dual core. Is 2 gig RAM sufficient? What graphics card (resenably inexpensive and dual display) would be ideal. And any other suggestions on getting a pc for optimized HDV editing?

Make sure your video card has at least 256MB VRAM. If you are planning on dual monitors then go for a system that has SLI video capabilities–you can plug in 2 cards, one for each monitor.
Have your system and applications software on the main drive and install at least one extra physical drive for holding media. If you must go external, go firewire and not USB 2 (better sustained throughput).
