Thanks for responding. I’m working on Mac formatted drives. One of my successful AVI files is in excess of 9 GBs- so no problem there. It’s not a space issue on the drive- I have 6 TB remaining on the drive.

I am now attempting to do this in a different fashion. Actually opening the QT in MPGStreamclip and saving the file as AVI. That process just finished as I’m writing this- and it looks like the file is good. Before I was exporting from QUICKTIME.

So, we’ll see if this workflow continues to work with in MPGStreamclip.

Thanks for the guidance. In addition to following all of your suggestions- I also went to a different font which helped tremendously. I was given a font by my client- Avant Guard Gothic Book to use in the project. While it looked great on my timeline and on my HD broadcast monitor- once it was run through DVD Studio Pro it left a lot to be desired. I wound up going with Helvetica Neue Light which came across much cleaner.

I will try both of these suggestions. Just out of curiosity- what does taking the Motion project to the timeline instead of exporting accomplish? This is the first time I have heard of this method.

I followed your advice and used FCS remover and then did a new install from the upgrade disks. The ProRes options still do not appear in my Easy Setups however if I scroll down to Audio and VIdeo Settings the ProRes options are there.

You are sending an HD signal to a non HD monitor. The monitor is not capable of down converting the signal.

Thanks for the response. I had a feeling I was going to run into losing some of the image along the way. I appreciate you confirming that for me.

I wish I had been involved in the planning for this film as I certainly would have pushed for consistency throughout field production to avoid just such a situation.

Bring your AVCHD directly into Final Cut as ProRes. Skip the step of converting to DVCPROHD in Toast.

Go into your scene file menu- scroll through until you get to the gamma settings. There you will find HD norm and the rest of the gamma settings. Select what you;d like and save the change.
