    Hello,

I’m working in a DVCPRPOHD 1080 60i timeline. I have created text graphics in Motion and exported them as tiffs for use on my timeline. When I export my timeline at current settings- bring that into compressor and then import that file into DVD Studio Pro the outcome is fuzzy text on the final DVD.

Should I be using something other than tiff as my export of choice in Motion? What would be cleaner? Is this happening because of the interlaced nature of my overall project?

Any help you can provide is appreciated.

    I’m running FCS 6.0.6.

    Thanks,
    Jim

You should render out of motion the same codec/frame rate/size as your sequence you’re using it in.

Have you tried dragging the Motion project into FCP and then dropping it on the timeline?

I will try both of these suggestions. Just out of curiosity- what does taking the Motion project to the timeline instead of exporting accomplish? This is the first time I have heard of this method.

    Thanks again,
    Jim

Well it is quicker and also you can edit the Motion file from the timeline (it opens up Motion) without having to delete/export relink etc etc.

Make sure you switch FCP’s Rendering option to it’s highest quality. Taking the Motion file to FCP is uncompressed (like the tiffs) until you render it in the timeline.

Thanks for the guidance. In addition to following all of your suggestions- I also went to a different font which helped tremendously. I was given a font by my client- Avant Guard Gothic Book to use in the project. While it looked great on my timeline and on my HD broadcast monitor- once it was run through DVD Studio Pro it left a lot to be desired. I wound up going with Helvetica Neue Light which came across much cleaner.

    Again thanks for the help.
