hooking a standard Def monitor to my HPX 170- no signal
I have tried to hook my hpx 170 composite AV cord / and SDI cord with 1/8 ” mini plugin to an external Standard Definition LCD Monitor and I do not get a signal. Can some one help me understand why? I know there must be a compatibility issue but I am unsure as to where the issue is?

You are sending an HD signal to a non HD monitor. The monitor is not capable of down converting the signal.

Go to the menu options, select the 480i option in the AV playback option.
You should be able to get SD signal on your monitor now.

Your only option is Composite (Yellow, Red and White) or Component (breakout cable with Green, Red and Blue) if your LCD has those inputs.
SDI will ONLY work with a monitor with an SDI input.
I’m not understanding your SDI with 1/8″ plug. This definitely is NOT and SDI cable. SDI is BNC to BNC.

Thanks for your input- I realize now what I was doing- and I finally found the AV connection above the xlr hookup. Silly me. Thank you for your responses – very helpful!
