You could probably create many of the effects in something like After Effects or even Photoshop. But as Joseph hinted, it would not be something you could do in real-time nor would it be simple or easy.

There are a lot of 3D looking techniques, reflections, etc that could be done with plug-ins (something like Zaxwerks) or lots of additional time/effort.

I’m not using CS6 yet. When I import a RAW sequence into AE, the “all acceptable files” pulldown needs to be changed to “all files.”

Thanks for the idea. That seems to work OK.

How do I now ‘link’ the stabilized footage to the original footage without the mask? WS doesn’t seem to generate any position keyframes, so there is nothing to which to parent the unmasked footage.

I only have CS5.5 on this machine, but it works fine for me. Does it do the same thing if you use the icons on the comp window instead of F5?

I am not aware of any program that exports RAW. If you think about it, RAW is the data as-captured by a specific camera. If you edit it, it is no longer related to the camera.

That being said, you can open your 16-bit tiff as RAW and use all the controls in ACR to manipulate your tone-mapped image. That should provide the control you are looking for. File => Open As => Cmaera Raw.

It’s a little hard to reply without knowing a bit about what you are trying to do.

Is V1 the “before” and V2 the “after?” Are you trying for a surreal look or a realistic look?

To get a bit overly-critical: Both photos are very contrasty, but that might be what you were trying to achieve. I am not a fan of the “blown-out highlight” look that seems to be getting popular right now. Nor do I prefer the green shadows look. In V2, the saturation is a bit high, and the lighting seems to be coming from two different directions. The compositing looks a bit pasted together.

Like I said, a bit overly-critical…. but you asked.

If you are authoring BD for a market that requires all the unique effects, you’ll need to look into a higher-end authoring system like Scenarist.

Be prepared, high-end authoring done with high-level tools comes with corresponding price tags and learning curves. It may be more cost-effective to hire that sort of work on an as-needed basis.

I also use an FX1000 with Premiere.

There is a menu setting that determines whether the camera outputs SD or HD. Change the setting to the desired selection and all will be well.

You may need to review the manual to find the setting since my FX1000 is not in front of me right now.
