  • Capturing Question: Sony HDR-FX1000 & Premiere Pro CS5.5

    Hello,

I am a self taught videographer who whenever I have issues i look to the web but havent found anything quite like this, so any ideas are appreciated.

I have a Sony HDR-FX1000. I record in HD, use sony HDV tapes, but when i go to capture on premiere pro cs5.5 it will not let me capture in hdv but only in DV. It will just say capture device offline . It will only let me capture when I go back and switch the capture to DV. I notice a huge drop in quality of my final product.

I use a 6/4 pin firewire cable which works fine as it does capture. Also this problem is recent, In the past I have always been able to capture in HDV, maybe i switched a setting on premiere or the camera?

    Any ideas? Thank you

I also use an FX1000 with Premiere.

There is a menu setting that determines whether the camera outputs SD or HD. Change the setting to the desired selection and all will be well.

You may need to review the manual to find the setting since my FX1000 is not in front of me right now.
