    Hey guys,

I use photomatix if I tone map (not necessarily HDR). But it exports the product to 16bit tiff.
Is there any program that can tone map and still keep the image in raw format?

    cheers,

I am not aware of any program that exports RAW. If you think about it, RAW is the data as-captured by a specific camera. If you edit it, it is no longer related to the camera.

That being said, you can open your 16-bit tiff as RAW and use all the controls in ACR to manipulate your tone-mapped image. That should provide the control you are looking for. File => Open As => Cmaera Raw.

Yes and I have given this a lot of thought.

But I always come back to the fack that I should be able to merge 3 RAW images and then have one RAW image to work with. I know I can open as a smart object but it isnt the same.

The issue is once merged, the exported 16bit tiff doesnt have the recovery that the RAW does. I would manually mask and combine, but real estate photography requires quick turn around. Sometimes I have 3 properties in one day.

Stay 32-bit and use adjustment layers with selections.

By definition, a tonemapped image can’t be raw. But you can keep it 32-bit and use exposure adjustments with masks

Both Photoshop and Nik stay 32-bit
