After Effects ‘forgets’ snapshots
So…I take a snapshot (shift-F5, shift-F6 etc.). I can view the snapshot (F5). Lovely.
I do a render. I press F5. No snapshot is stored. Is this normal? It’s a pain in the arse. It’s as if the frame buffer that stores the snapshot(s) gets overwritten during the render process, but I’ve got 64GB RAM – surely there’s a little bit spare to store a snapshot or two?!
I’ve submitted a bug report to Adobe, but I just wondered if anyone else has noticed this same thing?

I only have CS5.5 on this machine, but it works fine for me. Does it do the same thing if you use the icons on the comp window instead of F5?

Yep – it’s the same if I use the icons at the bottom of the comp window.

This has never worked any differently. I’m looking at the code now, and there is an instruction to purge noncritical RAM contents before rendering, so that rendering can get all of the available resources.
Jim, I don’t know how you can be seeing any different behavior, since a) the same instruction was in CS5.5 and b) I just tested this on CS5.5.
