No. You need a software that has markers, like Final Cut, Premiere, Avid, etc. Or just write down the timecodes.

  • You’re fine. It captures it as .avi. If not, I’m sure you can figure out how to make that happen. 🙂

Working in the broadcast industry, it is dependent on the station. For the distributors that I have dealt with, they haven requested ProRes and H.264s. For some, I have seen XDCam, DNxHD, and even MPEG-2s. A ProRes or DNxHD would be the way to go, I’m my opinion, but if you can, I would check with the stations for their preference. Or if you are making files for an entire campaign, then just do the ProRes or DNxHD.

Here are two things I would suggest trying:

    1. Trash your preferences.
    2. Reimport the assets that aren’t reconnecting into your project. From there, select that asset on your time. Then take the newly imported version of that asset and REPLACE it. You’ll have two of everything; however, it should just fix it, although you just can reconnect.

  • Honestly, Premiere isn’t hard. It’s the same thing as FCP7, but everything is just in different places. You can switch the keyboard layout so it has the same functions as FCP as it does in Premiere (if that’s what you are most familiar with). And yes, it is much easier to use the other related Adobe products, such as After Effects, Photoshop, etc., through their Dynamic Link that Adobe uses to send projects to one another.

Premiere is awesome. CS6 is the way to go, if you have it, or even CS5.

  • I don’t think there is. You would have to set the in-and-out points for everything. The quickest export would then be to send all of your timelines to Compressor and do a Batch export from there.

This should be in the “Build” tab. However, what version of Encore do you have? I have personally run into issues when authoring a Blu-Ray that needed to be on Region 2; however, my version on Mac wouldn’t let me select, but my a version on PC would.

I don’t think you can transfer it back that way. You would need SDI or some sort of Firewire to be able to transfer the video back to the camera. USB is mainly just used for Data transfer.

    This is to my understanding.

Check your user preferences. Make sure you don’t have the “Report Dropped Frames” option checked.

There is also an option within Audio/Video Settings in the very last tab that allows you to report the External Video error.
