  • Tapio,

What are you trying to output to? Tape or just streaming it out somewhere?

  • Tapio,

Did you check in AJA’s control panel and make sure that you don’t have it set for 4:3 video to output letterboxed? See image below to see the option for the SD conversion

    Hope this helps.

    Dave,

Thanks for the advice; however, my client apparently “doesn’t know how he did it.” So I can’t go to him to have him convert it.

I have Flip4Mac Studio Pro HD installed and that doesn’t read anything either. That does not read it because I would be able to open up the files that don’t play in Quicktime Player Pro 7 and export as a WMV then.

    Thanks anyway.

I figured it out and would like to share with everyone.

DVD Ripping software will recognize more “widespread” languages, such as German, Spanish, Japanese. Amharic is an esoteric language that softwares will not recognize right away. We went into the original project and re-authored the Amharic subtitles by naming is “Spanish”. That did the trick! By doing this, we tricked the software to think that Amharic contained Spanish subtitles and I have been able to rip the video with burned-in Amharic subtitles.
