    Hi All,

I am preparing some video files to be included in an online “media press kit.” The idea being that journalists and broadcasters can easily download the clip for incorporation into news stories.

Is there one or two high quality video formats that will enable the vast majority of TV stations to easily ingest?

I was considering offering both a ProRes and DNxHD format. Please advise.

    Thanks

    Cassidy

Research how other press kits are delivered…what format are they in? That’s what I’d do. Typically for press kits for movies, I’ve seen DVCPRO HD. But that is FCP only. DNxHD and ProRes QTs are more universal, but have much larger file sizes.

I’ve also seen H.264, but rarely.

Working in the broadcast industry, it is dependent on the station. For the distributors that I have dealt with, they haven requested ProRes and H.264s. For some, I have seen XDCam, DNxHD, and even MPEG-2s. A ProRes or DNxHD would be the way to go, I’m my opinion, but if you can, I would check with the stations for their preference. Or if you are making files for an entire campaign, then just do the ProRes or DNxHD.
