You’re right, I did. I changed it to 29.97 in the config settings, but only after the fact. Does that mean the whole project is kaput?

January 18, 2012 at 6:35 am in reply to: Switching from Kona LHe to Decklink SDI – Pros/ConsI’m brand spanking new to Resolve, but I do have a DeckLink SDI running out of my MacPro and I haven’t had a single problem monitoring with it. RED footage looks great going from DaVinci through the DeckLink and to my monitor. Audio comes out of the crummy speakers in the monitor, but I seldom listen closely when I’m grading so that doesn’t bug me–and I’m sure there’s a simple way to fix that if one were so inclined.

Thanks for all the great info. If anyone is still reading this thread at this point, I’m curious of your opinions of the following several monitors (leaving out the HP DreamColor and FSI 2461, which have been discussed extensively–DreamColor seems great for me, other than the HP not continuing the line so support may be lacking, and the FSI being a bit outside of my ideal price range):
Ikegami HLM-2450WB
Panasonic BT-LH2550
Sony LMD-2050WHD
17″ Sony PVM-1741 OLED
15” Sony LMD-1541WThese, based on a couple hours research, all seem like great options but I’d still love your opinions.

Thanks for all the great information, everyone. I really appreciate it. Coming from a cost vs. ‘what I actually need it for’ place (low budget freelance gigs for the most part), I wish I could justify getting the Flanders 2461 or a fancy-shamcy OLED, but those are a bit out of my price range. I’m bouncing between the HP DreamColor (LP2480zx) and the Flanders 2140, which are about the same cost for now sale on HP.com
What do you folks think about the one versus the other? What is the general comparison between HP’s DreamColor engine, which is included in the LP2480zx, and FSI’s Color Fidelity Engine, which is only included in the out-of-my-league 2461?
Thanks again,

October 18, 2011 at 9:19 pm in reply to: Will Resolve 8 Mac license work on PC? (since The Mac Pro may be gone)Do you have info on A? I’m holding off on buying a new MacPro because everyone says an update to the line is due, but I haven’t been able to find actual info from Apple about that and I’m getting antsy.

Hi, Bram. I found this thread and am so happy to find a conversation about monitors for color grading that isn’t from 2008. I’m an LA-based colorist looking to jump from CRTs to something more modern and the 2461 seems like a great one. Someone else in this threat mentioned there was a 17″ version that has the same features–is that the LM-1760W, and are there any major differences between the two other than the size?
Thanks,

Thanks, Peter. I can always razor a clip if need be, but I try to avoid that if at all possible so I’m playing with your Slug idea. The slug stays black–I can’t figure out how to make the slug transparently opaque, so the slug itself doesn’t obscure the video below but not removing opacity so the Boris effect still applies. Am I missing something simple?

Shane, sorry to dig this up from last year. I’m thinking about adding Avid to my computer that already has FCS. What were the minor conflict issues you mentioned? Like you, I’m only using this system for small jobs and personal projects so I imagine it won’t be a huge issue. I’d just like to know what to expect if I go through with it.
Thanks,
-Jesse
