Just try Cineform. They have a trial version. I’ve used it two years and would never go back. It is an editable codec and produces much better results. I recently upgraded to Prospect to use with a 10 bit editor and was surprised to find I could render out my Vegas projects in 709 Colorspace 4:4:4.

I use the Marantz also. I showed it to a pro sound guy and he bought one. It will run on GOOD rechargeable batteries (2500 or 2700) and have them available on long days.

You are not seeing that when you added generated text a NEW BUTTON appears when you close the text box. It is green and in the upper right hand corner of the box. Click that and the text box opens up again. Then size your text like in a word processor.

It will lead Vegas 64. Only those who upgrade to 8 will be gibven a chance to beta test the 64 bit version. It is supposed to be a wide test.

Yes, I tried that but the net Vegas is looking for apparently cannot be installed on 64 bit Windows now.

If you are serious about HDV check out Cineform. You can reencode it several times without significant degradation. It also has a path for upgrade if you ever get serious.

I get the best QT renders using 3ivx codec. It’s cheap and gives controls not available with the Sorenson in Vegas. They have a trial version.

I understand your problem since I’ve been using Vegas also and just got the Adobe bundle to use again. I find I get the FX of Vegas in After Effects but with better effects and more control. I appreciate the completeness of Adobe and the fact that Premiere is 10 bit but am surprised reading about some of the problems people are having with Premiere that are a piece of cake in Vegas.

Thanks for the help. I finally took the file into AE, made a composition for each clip I wanted to change by setting the work area and rendered just that. It might have been easier to cut it up in Premiere. I’m not sure. I’ll probably try that too. I have 6 of these files to do.

That matches what I think I finally figured out. I took the whole
thing into AE, created compositions with the work area on clips
I wanted to change. Is there a better way to trim?
