When i insert a font, it wont let me calibrate the font, like i cant change what it says, or the font size, or font itself, same goes for adding fx, i can add the effect, but i can callibrate it. im sure its simple, can someone just tell me how to get this back. It use to happen, now it doesnt, which makes me thing, i unchecked something under the view tab

Most likely you moved the window out of view. If you can temorarily change to a higher screen resolution, you should be able to find it and move it back.

that didnt work, im on a 22″ monitor at max resolution. when i use to select media generator and put default text on the screen, a menu would pop up, and i could change everything, plus i could make it move with the keyframes. That menu doesnt show up for anything anymore, like when im inserting video fx. Isnt there an option in the view tab, to get that back? im desperate, and this is making me sad

Try using View > Window Layouts> Load default.

If that doesn’t work, look for a Video Event FX tab on one of the windows that you may have docked it to.

Simply adding it makes it show up. There’s no “view” menu item for that because it’s automatic!

There are really only two places it could be:

    1. Off the screen (which Gary’s initial advice would work to help you find them)

    2. DOCKED with other windows. Are they on a tab with the Explorer/Trimmer/Effects/Transitions windows?

Either way, you just need to find where you’ve moved them. Worst case, exit Vegas, hold down CTRL-SHIFT, and restart Vegas. When those two keys are held down while Vegas starts, it resets it back to “factory defaults” but you then have to go through and change all your preferred settings again.

[jeditdv] “Simply adding it makes it show up.”

If you let your cat sit next to your keyboard make sure its tail isn’t resting on the shift key, as you might be blocking the pop up this way as well. (sorry).

    I don’t have a cat!

Of course scripting is another way to add them without them automatically opening. But clicking on the icon on the event should always open them.

You are not seeing that when you added generated text a NEW BUTTON appears when you close the text box. It is green and in the upper right hand corner of the box. Click that and the text box opens up again. Then size your text like in a word processor.
