I’m pretty sure that iMovie and FCP use the same DV codecs. So just capture and deliver…

You can shoot with any camera for broadcast. Better cameras for better pictures, but there’s nothing in the license to use the codec that prevents you from shooting with it, then charging for said shoot. Broadcast or not.

I think the biggest difference is that the LED will have more even light, and not fall off quite as much if you sit to the side of it.

Yeah, it’s called Merging clips…
You need to set in points in each clip where they sync. Then select “merge clips” from the modify menu. A new clip will appear in the browser which will act just like an A/V clip.

Sure looks like the Cineform codec isn’t playing nice… try transcoding one of the cuts to this camera to ProRes, import it and cut it in. Then export that section of sequence and see if the problem continues.

Pretty much the industry standard workflow would be to cut the video then give him the audio tracks to sweeten.

How are you converting the HD to SD? Through QT conversion directly from FCP or are you using Compressor? (which is likely the way to go here sans a hardware conversion).

A clean install might fix you right up…
If you’re using DVD SP for the DVD production, you can compress using much the same presets there, so you might try that. Import a reference movie into it, and the encode settings are in the Preferences for DVD SP.
