Your post is unclear. You want to shorten a sequence I get, but the rest I don’t… when you select an in and out point what do you want to happen that isn’t happening? You do need to delete sections for any thing to happen, not just set points.

In FCP, look in the pop up menu in the timeline window upper left corner. Set the playback to be “unlimited”. Be sure too that the sequence settings match the source material’s properties exactly. Usually a new sequence will ask you to match that first clip’s settings. so put any old clip in there that is the majority of the source material property wise, and say Yes to conform the sequence settings.

Clip’s in the browser can be sorted by name, duration or any of the other columns in the Browser, so they won’t always come in in the same order as what you saw in the finder… Just sort them in the Browser (by name maybe or date) and you’ll not have the problem.

What are you trying to deliver? A web stream or?
Also post what the sequence settings are. Is it an anamorphic sequence or?

No serious reason to not use ProRes 4444 IMHO. The reason uncompressed might be better is the fact that when a render happens, the computer doesn’t have to uncompress the compressed file, add the filter or whatever, then recompress it back to the codec set in the sequence. This results in a no loss render. ProREs is darn close though. Also believe it or not, Uncompressed renders faster… because it doesn’t have to un then re compress…

Yeah, that’s a no no.. you always need to match the sequence setting to the source material’s properties to avoid rendering.

Photoshop files with blank layers can cause this error message. It’s pretty common…
