When you launch FCP on the Lion machine, there’s a message? Would you post it exactly?

I didn’t load it on the same startup disk as Studio 2009 here… did a separate boot disk for it. Did you do a search in the FCP X techniques forum for the issue? Might try that.

Post the format of the source material. Is it HDV or DV or?
And post the sequence settings you’re using.

September 19, 2011 at 12:05 pm in reply to: Export/ compression issues, possibly due to use of still images? There is no easy fix for this… you need to transcode that h.264 footage to ProRes before you edit… so my suggestion is to reconform your sequence to proves versions of the clips… (you’ll need to make them first of course) then replace the h.264 files with the ProRes files in a sequence set to be ProRes.

You’d have to post the exact specs… these are intel core duo 2 machines? If they just meet the minimums, they’ll work but they’ll be slower or crippled a little somehow. The specs for the current software can be found on the manufacturer’s site. You’re looking for system requirements.
Thing is all the modern software is heavily relying on the GPU’s more and more, so that becomes an issue with older iMac’s no doubt. Render times etc might be really slow on some things.
You can certainly get a free copy of Adobe software to try.

September 18, 2011 at 7:48 pm in reply to: Final Cut to MPEG-2 issues on ONE shot onlyHere’s a shot in the dark:
Try exporting a self contained QT movie of it this shot from the master clip, (mark in to out) and use “Current settings”.
Then tell it to “recompress all frames”. Try that media file instead.
Nother thought do look at this shot’s properties by typing cmd+9 and post them here.
