24p shot footage on that camera is really 29.97 with one of two pulldown patterns. Was it 24p advanced or just plain 24p? If you capture the footage as 29.97 it will show up on any monitor from either format, however if it’s ALSO 16:9 anamorphic, you HAVE to have an anamorphic monitor to see it “unstretched”… otherwise, you can put the anamorphic footage in a non anamorphic sequence, render each cut and see it letterboxed on a non 16:9 monitor… or just get used to streched…
If you want to truly work in 24fps all the way you have to tell us which mode the footage was shot in… 24p or 24pa?

This sure sounds like the BM card is causing some uglies… might reinstall it’s drivers, and also search/post this in the BlackMagic forum. I don’t have a whit of problems with a Kona 2 doing much the same… this is all BM’s 8bit codec used in capture and export, right?

Sure doesn’t sound like it will go off screen unless you drag it there… it will close though if you hit cmd w… try that open it, close it with cmd w, then see if it doesn’t reopen. It should reopen exactly where it was left last…

There certainly is an argument to leave them on alright… sort of like if you leave a lightbulb on all the time it lasts for years, but turning it off and on all the time causes wear or damage… That said, I’ve never lost a drive in 16 years of this… and shut it all down every night.

It’s the 4:2;2 colorspace that is enticing DVCPRO100 is what it shoots… and the price is very right. Gammas should be similar to a varicam…

The ETT window can get lost under other windows pretty easily, but I’ve not seen it just “close itself”… when it seems like it does this to you, you cannot simply open it again?

Most people leave drives on all the time. However I’ve never done that, and have always shut down then restarted each day. It can be argued that you should keep them up all the time for longevity, but then, I”ve never done this in 16 years of NLE work and can’t say it’s cost me drives.
