  • I’ve not read a lot of problems with XL-2’s like we had with XL-1’s…

You shouldn’t have a problem mixing the cameras technically, but the look of the two cameras is likely to be quite different from each other so you’d have to color correct one or the other I’d think.

Might want to see if you can’t match the two cameras… you have a PD-150 or 170? Seems to me you could find a matching camera pretty easily, even if you had to look for a used one. Even then though, they’ll need some color correction to match exactly, just seems to me that it would be easier to do.

You can still access this by exporting a QT movie and adding the filter there (click on the options button in the dialog box, then choose a filter). It would be in file/export/quicktime conversion…

I think FCP 4.5 runs best in QT 6.5.2… but i’ve seen it run OK with 7… Do the reinstall and see if indeed it helps.

Might try trashing preferences in case they are corrupt, or there’s a read here on this: https://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301852

February 17, 2006 at 8:16 pm in reply to: How to import SWF to FinalCut Pro ???

FCP doesn’t support SWF however it does support these formats:

DV, DVCAM, DVCPRO, DVCPRO50, and DVCPRO HD
    Native long GOP MPEG-2, HDV
IMX at 50Mbps; compatible with 30-, 40- and 50Mbps media
Uncompressed 8- and 10-bit HD (4:2:2 YUV) via PCI card
Uncompressed 8- and 10-bit SD (4:2:2 YUV) via FireWire or a PCI card
    Apple Intermediate Codec
    OfflineRT Photo-JPEG codec
    HD at 1080i 50/60, 1080p 23.98/24, and 720p 23.98/30/60
Still images: PSD, BMP, JPEG, PICT, PNG, SGI, TARGA, TIFF

SOOOO you need to change this file to one of those formats or export it from Flash as such.

There’s probably an install problem somewhere… It’s really a very stable deal actually, so it’s not a bug, nor are there settings for you to try don’t think. the Pro Apps support might be the area dunno… Which unfortunately may take a FCP 5 reinstall to fix.

    ugh.

I’m not a big fan of 10.3.9, but that said…

As I recall, you can reinstall Calligraphy by downloading it from Apple’s support area. That might help.

That is the way to do it… black the tape starting with the timecode you want to match… or change the timeline’s timecode to match the tape…

  • Actually, if you export a QT movie of any sequence, the result will be a single file which is rendered. So the computer has to render it one place or another… even a non self contained movie contains the media that had to be rendered, and all other media it references.

So you should be OK to send the sequence to Compressor unrendered, but I really don’t quite understand the point, becuase I think the export will take just as long as a render would have. So do set the render quality to high before you export (though I’m not sure it comes into play there) and you’ll be able to check your rendered effects that way.

As far as I know, there’s no way to automatically delete certain audio tracks from a QT movie from within FCP…
