You have to realize though that Sony Creative Software out of Madison, WI is not the same as Sony Corp out of Japan. Even though they are owned by Sony, Sony Corp hardware makers probably don’t even know there is a Sony Vegas Pro editing software on the market. Left hand right hand kind of thing.

After you render the video, what player are you watching the video in? Have you tried VLC? If not, you can download it from videolan.org.
Depending on what version of Vegas you have, version 9 and 10 pro adjust the framerate for you on playback in the preview window to allow for smoother playback. Once you render it, the only things that would cause it slowly drift is 1. your hardware or video player can’t handle the video. 2. However you capture the video allows the audio to drift over time. Number 2 is fixable in Sony Vegas, just split the audio before it becomes noticably off (like a gunshot a slightly ahead of the gun going off or slightly behind) and shift it slightly to the left or right on the timeline until it is back in sync. Do this every so often until it is where it should be and then render out.
What format are you rendering to? For a simple test, render out to wmv and see if you still have the issue while playing it in Windows Media Player.

What did Sony say? I assume they have not ran into this issue before but did verify that the deck and the card are both compatible with Sony Vegas yeah?

Out of curiosity, do you have DVD Architect installed? That is where you get the AC3 options (or at least where you used to get the licensing).
As Danny said, have you installed any plugin packs? Also, what version of QT do you have installed? Some version of QT play dirty with Vegas. However, I think the newest version is safe.
If you have system restore turned on and yet your system is not doing periodic backups (system checkpoints) you may want to do a virus/malware scan or ensure you have enough space allotted for such restore points.

I don’t know what version you are using, but you should be able to file/import/DVD Camcorder Disc and point it to the VTS file that ends in .vob.
It will take some time to put it on the timeline but you should be able to “smart render” or otherwise not recompress the files again except where you make cuts or apply fx, etc. I do believe you will need to make sure that the bitrate matches or else you may not be able to smart render. You should be able to use g-spot to tell you the bitrate if you don’t remember what bitrate you encoded them too.
Test it on a short segment first to ensure you see the screen in your preview window that says “no recompression”.

You may very well know that, but I didn’t know that about you and was ensuring that the basics were covered.
If they say they take wmv and you submitted wmv, then the reasons listed are the only ones they state will keep your video footage from being accepted.

An older version will not do you any good as you cannot open a Vegas 10 project in Vegas 9, 8, 7, 6, etc. However, you can open a Vegas 6 project in Vegas 7, 8, 9, 10, etc.
Hopefully you won’t have to wait until the next version of Vegas comes out to try again 🙁

Download this tool (it is free) and run it. It will give you a whole lot of information about your computer and in that information it will tell you what version of Windows, how much ram, cpu, etc. you have.
It is called Belarc Advisor. Don’t paste the entire results on here as it will tell you your software activation keys and we (nor anyone else on the internet) don’t need to know that.
