Have you checked a different stand alone DVD player/TV/Receiver? Basically have you tried it at a friends house just to ensure that it is not your receiver changing decoders once the audio stream stops? Whenever I cycle through my BluRay Disc player/PC/TV via my TV remote I get a pop if the BluRay disc player is on. You could be getting something similar when it realizes the audio stream is no longer there.
Another thing to consider is to start a new instance of Vegas, add a wav file to the timeline (not the same ones giving you issues)- perhaps a sample from the net somewhere and burn it to disc with say a picture on the timeline for the video stream. Give it a go on the same system. Do you get the same results? If so, there is something up with your system. If not, well, now you have to find what is causing the issue in your particular project. I would start by copying over one piece at a time, rendering it out and seeing if you get the pop in your windows media player. If not, keep adding until you find the culprit.
Also, you may want to make sure you don’t have any pieces of detached events where the pops are. Zoom in real close to the timeline where the pops are showing up and see if you can see anything. Don’t forget to look at other tracks and on top of the track with your main audio.

6 minutes of what? What file types do you have on the timeline? What fx do you have applied? Do you have the opacity slider set to anything other than 100%? What format are you rendering to? Are you using 3D track motion? All of these factors and then some can increase your render times.

Convert your mp3 file to a wav file and put that on the timeline. Does that do away with the sync issue?
As for 1440 x 1080, try the Sony AVC render template and adjust accordingly. You should be able to produce an mp4 file that is small on size and high on quality.

Vegas 8 is the professional version of Vegas while the Movie Studio HD is a consumer version. It will lack plugins and features that can only be found in the pro version. Apparently the color correction plugin is one of those. You may want to look on Sony’s site: https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com for the daily deal and upgrade to Vegas Pro 10 or look online for Vegas pro 9 as you should be able to find it cheaper since it is now older by a few months. Sorry for not being more help.

Yes there is. With Vegas closed, rename the containing folder or move it elsewhere. When you reopen it (given the veg file is in a different folder than the source media), it should prompt you for the file location(s) and give you several options for replacing the media.

k-lite codec pack can cause problems with Vegas as it can overwrite some of the quality codecs included within Vegas with cheaper, less quality alternatives. It, as well as other codec packs, can “break” codecs and cause problems. You may want to do a clean install…
In regards to your file, 129.42fps is a lot of frames per second. Are you doing some sort of slow motion capture? If not, this is probably wrong. Download gspot and tell us the results when you drag your video file over top of it.

Take a breath.
WMV files are not the best for editing. You never mentioned your selected bitrate for the mpg files or what type of mpg files you converted them to. Regardless you are going from one extremely compressed lossy format to another. The degradation isn’t going to be pretty.
With that being said, what version of Vegas are you using? Is it a 64 bit version? 32? How much RAM do you have installed? Watch your page file usage in the task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) as you are rendering and see if it peaks out. If it does, you are running out of RAM. Perhaps try increasing your page file size (or if you have more RAM available, put it in). If you are on a 32 bit OS and running 32 bit Vegas you are limited to about 3 gigs of RAM total so there isn’t much more you can do on that front.

Navigate to your directX plugin folder and remove the culprit. If you don’t know which one it is, you can remove half and if it loads, put them back in one by one or group by group until you find the trouble group/plugin.
If you do need to reinstall, just make sure you have your project file (I don’t know what they are called in the consumer version- they are .veg files in the pro version) and your source media in the same place. You can then uninstall and reinstall Sony Vegas open your project file.
