Sony Vegas Plug In Errors
Hi guys.
So, I think I have made quite some mistakes with my Sony Movie Studio HD. I used to use Sony Vegas 8.0, but it would lag out my computer and I was unable to do anything. So, now I have Movie Studio 9.0. Here’s the issue.. I was trying to find a color corrector plugin, because my version doesn’t have it. After a friend linked me a site to get a free trial for a plugin pack, I downloaded it. Because it was a trial version, they were all watermarked. So I removed them and uninstalled. Now, I’m having issues trying to open up the program. It’s stuck on “Initializing DirectX Plugins.” This is a major issue. I use Movie Studio for Machinima’s and other movies. I spent 2 weeks putting together my last machinima that I finally finished last night. Editing, matching the vocals, putting the music together, etc;
I was supossed to release it today, at the writters request. I guess my question is, How do I actually save the test file without losing it if I decide to re-install this program? I didn’t render the actual video because I had a couple things that needed to be touched up. I’ve spent countless hours on this project, a lot of stress.. and not to mention, pulling my hair out, that I can’t lose it.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix this so that I don’t lose everything that I’ve worked very hard on? I would greatly appreciate it. 🙂

Navigate to your directX plugin folder and remove the culprit. If you don’t know which one it is, you can remove half and if it loads, put them back in one by one or group by group until you find the trouble group/plugin.
If you do need to reinstall, just make sure you have your project file (I don’t know what they are called in the consumer version- they are .veg files in the pro version) and your source media in the same place. You can then uninstall and reinstall Sony Vegas open your project file.

I greatly appreciate it. However, before I decided to uninstall the program (I was afraid of losing all my work) and reinstall, I did a quick system restore and it actually replaced the missing files, or may have deleted the files that didn’t need to be used. I appreciate the help, though. This website is the only website I go to for any Sony Vegas issues that I have. 🙂
Also, is there any way to get a Color Correction plugin for Sony Movie Studio HD 9.0? I know that my other Sony Vegas had it, but it seems that this particular program doesn’t have most or even all the plugins that that one did.

Vegas 8 is the professional version of Vegas while the Movie Studio HD is a consumer version. It will lack plugins and features that can only be found in the pro version. Apparently the color correction plugin is one of those. You may want to look on Sony’s site: https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com for the daily deal and upgrade to Vegas Pro 10 or look online for Vegas pro 9 as you should be able to find it cheaper since it is now older by a few months. Sorry for not being more help.

I figured as much. I’m not entirely sure how great Vegas Pro 10 will work on my computer, as I had issues with the previous version and had to use Movie Studio. I’m looking online right now for the Pro 10 version, and if it’s as good as it says it is, I’ll definitely grab it. You’ve helped me out a great deal. Which is very much appreciated. I will continue to come to this site when I’m having any other issues in the near future or if I have any questions about programs.
