I recently opened up a project that was near completion to find that Vegas and replaced clips on the timeline with clips from a different captured tape. When I click on properties it says it should be referencing the right tape but the footage that plays is from a different captured tape all together. Anyone have this happen before and anyone have any ideas of a quick fix?

It appears as though the active take name and file path are different on the clips that were “replaced”. Is there a way to change the file path?

Yes there is. With Vegas closed, rename the containing folder or move it elsewhere. When you reopen it (given the veg file is in a different folder than the source media), it should prompt you for the file location(s) and give you several options for replacing the media.

Then, close Vegas and run CHKDSK to see if you have cross-linked sectors on your hard disk. If so, IMMEDIATELY copy your important files to a new drive. Then you can try fixing the original disk structure with CHKDSK /F.

If you do have cross-linked sectors, then you have two files that are permanent trash. Problem is that CHKDSK can’t tell you the names of the files using the same sector.
