I’m working the kinks out of a brand new system, which includes an AJA LHi capture card and Vegas 10. I’m cabled SDI out from my Sony DSR1800 DVCAM deck to SDI in on my AJA card, looking to bring in standard def video/audio via RS-422 (no firewire).

All is well with the AJA card– When I open the AJA capture app I get picture and sound and it controls the deck.

However, through the Vegas “Capture Video” window, I get a big “DEVICE ERROR” slap in the face and pretty much all controls and input boxes ghosted out. In the “Device” tab in Capture Preferences “AJA Video Device” is there and selected, complete with all the details about it.

Is this a bug? I’ve talked to the Sony tech folks, but they’re scratching their heads, and I have a hard time believing I’m the only person on the planet who has a Sony DVCAM deck who’s trying to use it with Sony Vegas.

    Kelly,

What did Sony say? I assume they have not ran into this issue before but did verify that the deck and the card are both compatible with Sony Vegas yeah?

Hopefully someone on here can help you out with the issue.

They said they’d pose the issue to “higher-up techs” and hopefully have an answer for me next week. I’ll be stunned if their own software isn’t compatible with their own hardware.

You have to realize though that Sony Creative Software out of Madison, WI is not the same as Sony Corp out of Japan. Even though they are owned by Sony, Sony Corp hardware makers probably don’t even know there is a Sony Vegas Pro editing software on the market. Left hand right hand kind of thing.
