Okay, so you aren’t using the multicam edit tool, you are just using the word to state you are using more than one camera while filming.
Just use the pan and crop icon on the video event (it looks like a square in the top right corner of the video event on the timeline). Shrink it down (expand it in the pan/crop gui) and place it where you want. Be sure to pay attention to the controls on the left in the gui.

What do you mean you bought some virtual memory? Virtual Memory is your page file which is space set aside on your hard disk used as RAM. You can increase the size of your page file, but more than likely you need to add more ram to your system unless it is at its limit (4 gigs for a 32 bit operating system).

Look at the render templates field order. Is it the same as your original footage? Field order can cause this issue and when you reverse footage, sometimes (at least in previous versions of Vegas) the field order would be changed.

Can you give some more information?
If you have two angles and are doing a multicam edit, how does the PIP fit into this scenario? Are you wanting to alternate the PIP image depending on which video stream is active in the multicam?
Please clarify.

I don’t have an answer for you on this, but I would recommend you go here: https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/support/technicalsupport.asp and ask the makers as to whether or not the VST plugs are loaded upon startup and if there is a work around.
One thing you can try is to take half of the VST plugs out of the folder and try loading Vegas. If it still fails, take out another half and so on and so on until it loads. If it loads, add back the first half you removed and try again. If it loads add back the second half you removed and so on and so on until you either reach the limit or you find the troublesome plugin.

You really need to watch for the fx you place on the files. Some fx render quicker than others. You don’t mention the ones you’ve applied but that will add to your render time.
In addition, if you have adjusted the transparancy to allow for one video track to show through to the other, this will increase your render time as well. Just layering a text file over top of a video should not be that noticeable.
As a test, try rendering it out in 5 second clips (use the loop selection tool and in the render dialogue box check “render loop region only”. Choose uncompressed AVI as your render format if you have the hard drive space to hold it (if not, download Lagarith- it’s free and use it).
Let us know what happens. I may not respond as I am leaving town tomorrow and won’t be back for a week or so but I will try to check back when I can.

If you are getting the dropouts at the exact same spot everytime you try to capture and with two differing capture utilities then the media would be suspect. If the dropouts were in random locations and didn’t appear in the location every time then the capture program or the computer itself would be suspect.
It sounds like it is time for you to invest in some new tapes. I use the Panasonic PQ’s and I can’t remember when the last time I have had dropouts. You will also want to clean your heads.

3 things:
1. Did you try capturing to your buddies computer that has the same cam? If not- try it just to rule out the camera. (as you know, the trial is free)
2. What do you have running in the background? Disable any antivirus as well during capture. Go to Start/Run/msconfig and go to the startup tab. Uncheck everything that does not need to run at startup. If you are not sure you can uncheck it and the system will recheck everything it needs to run for you upon restart.
3. Try HDV Split. It is a free program.

Be sure to look at the help menu as it can walk you through the mechanics. If you choose to get UltimateS pro from Vasst.com there are free tutorials that you can view that correspond with the features.
There is the Vegas Training from Vasst.com, The training from Sony Creative Software and the newsletters from jetdv.com that are all beneficial.
With that being said, I don’t know of a specific tutorial on this for Vegas.

Try Super. I have it and have used it on occasion to convert a file to a more workable file for editing. Here is the link: https://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
You will probably have to click a few times to get to the download page but it is a good program and has helped me out on several occasions. Also, it is free.
