  • What Scott says is true. However, Sony just announced AVCHD enhanced rendering with CUDA enabled video cards for the consumer versions of Sony Vegas (not Vegas Pro). So, one could assume that Vegas pro 10 will include this feature as well. So, if you are going to be buying a video card, you might want to get one that supports CUDA.

? Are you asking us to provide you with a working serial number? If so, you won’t find any help here with that issue.

It is a program that is definitely worth the money. I would recommend that you purchase it out right if you plan on using it outside of the trial.

Do you have any previous versions saved? Do you have a product such as Comodo TimeMachine or Acronis True Image where you can go back to a previous backed up file? If not, the only thing I would know to do is contact Sony support at this link and see if they can help you with the file.

Also, is it jus that one veg file or is it all of your veg files? Can you try to recreate the veg file by means of putting the same media on the timeline and using the same fx? If yes, try that and see if it is an fx (audio or video) that is causing the problem. If so, remove that fx from its folder and see if the project will load.

I just saw the same question come up in another forum. Here is the answer you are looking for as provided by Bjorn.

Another way would be to take the multicam track and copy and paste it above. On that track you would need to select the event and choose the alternate take (right click dropdown). You would still need to set the pan/crop at the track level.

Thanks John. I assumed wrongly that those were the files for the peaks from the consumer version of Vegas. Thanks for clarifying.

Here is what I would do. I save a copy of the veg file pre multicam and one for multicam. IF you did this, you can take your already lined up video events from the two cams and place them over top the multicam track (just copy and paste from one instance of vegas to the other). It should be the same length so there should be no problem lining it up.

Now, as you are watching through (solo your multicam track- control on the track header to the left “!”). When you want to add a PIP, make the cuts at the appropriate time and apply the pan/crop at the track level instead of the event level and you should only have to remove the unwanted video from the other track.

    Hope this is helpful.

Peaks are what you see when you look at the audio file. You see the wave form. Vegas builds the wave form and stores it in that file so that opening the project doesn’t take a long time after the initial opening.

As for why it is not in the veg file itself… well, only Sony (and the original folks at Sonic Foundry) really know. My guess would be that it cuts down on clutter and file size.

I am having difficulty understanding what you are wanting to do.

You have two cams and you feed the footage into the multicam tool. Do you want to take a third clip and make a picture-in-picture effect? Or do you want to take one of the cams in the multicam track and take each event from that one cam and make that be a PIP?

Are either of those correct? Do you have an example of what you are wanting? If so, post a link so I can help you.

The bak file can be renamed to .veg in case your current veg file becomes corrupt. And yes, it is the previous veg file that you saved before the last time you pressed the save button.

As for the other, when you wait for a file to build peaks, it creates that file so you no longer have to wait for it to rebuild the peaks. So if you delete it, Vegas will have to rebuild the peaks again.
