First, how’s the fx6? Looks like a very cool & capable camera in such a small package.

Second, I don’t think there is any reason to convert to ProRes. Just import and edit!

    Check out Riverside.fm.

Allows you to use multiple devices, including iOS devices, and the footage is recorded source side and then uploaded.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have used Open Reel for this, but it’s expensive. Riverside is similar but more affordable.

Both methods take some pre-production setup times and won’t be as easy as Zoom, but you get more out of them in the end.

If 3 photo files were created on sept 24, 2019, they import into a subfolder titled sept 24, 2019. So they are now ordered according to the date they were created, not the file name, which is numbered in the order I need.

Right click on any empty space in the browser (that is to say don’t right click on a clip) and choose:

    Group Clips By > None

    Sort by > Name

These controls can also be found under the little film strip icon at the top of the browser.

What software have you tried? What is the signal path? What else is attached to your machine?

You are right. It was literally on NABShow.com, but now it’s gone.

I mean….who knows. The last time they were there, which wasn’t even an official capacity, the resulting fallout was pretty intense. My guess, and it’s just a guess, will be some sort of hardware tie in with M1 or whatever is next from M1. Premiere is now M1 native (some say it’s 170% faster at certain tasks), as well as other developers coming around. It must be worth it if Apple is going to have an actual booth on the main floor this year?

EditReady will convert before you import to FCPX. Or you could use the FPCX import tool, and then transcode the imported .mov to ProRes, and then trash the original .mov.

If the FCPX import window isn’t working, then something is wrong with the folder structure.

Yes, it makes new media, so you can’t leave in place. For the ones that aren’t working, there has to be a specific folder structure, just like your screen grab, but it’s also possible those clips don’t have audio, (or they were shot off speed). The “untitled folder” can have any name.

That version of P2 has audio and video MXF files separate (called op-atom). Use the FCPX import window and point it to the “untitled folder” and you will see the clips show up. You can preview and import what you need, or import all of them. FCPX will then rewrap the footage to .mov with video and audio embedded in one file.

Are you sure that’s not rolling shutter artifacts? Is it only visible when scanning footage or do you see it when you play back in normal speed?
