I’m not exactly sure what you mean, but if you put a color over your video and control (or right) click and turn your composite mode to add. You will then see the effect you are going for , I think. You can also check out eurkea’s plug ins and they have a FREE one called vapor across that blooms and blurs across a transition.

Have you rendered your timeline? Make sure the ‘full’ option is checked in your sequence>render settings menu.
I believe you are watching a real time effect that has yet to be rendered. Once rendered, you should be good to go. Make sure you are watching out on a preview monitor and not in your canvas or browser.

It seems to me that it looks like some sort of square vs non square pixel translation, but that’s probably unlikely from livetype and fcp. All of your sequence and project settings match from fcp to livetype, correct? Can’t you shove over the big s a few pixels and give it some room to see if it at least fixes the problem?

I’d have to say it’s in the render somewhere. Did you composite this is Final Cut or some other program?

FCP 4.5 does not support HDV, only DVCPro HD which is a totally different format. FCP 4.5 will not transcode HDV to DVCPro HD in real time over firewire.
Either upgrade to FCP 5 or check into lumiere hd which will help you edit HDV in FCP 4.5 after a process of digitizing and transcoding.

Are you viewing these movies on the same computer you have FCP? If yes, then you should be able to watch them in quicktime. Try turning off the high quality function and see what that does for you. If it’s a different computer, then you need to get the uncompressed component in your FCP machine and put that on the non FCP machine. The uncompressed component is located in the root/library/quicktime folder.

Nevermind, decklink doesn’t support S-Video out.
You’ll need some sort of box or deck.
