Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Curves plugin

    Hello all,

i’m looking for a simple curves cc plugin for final cut.

I must admit that i really like the CC solution from AVID (especially symphony) 😉
and am a bit (only a bit) disappointed of the built in from Final Cut.

Does anyone know a simple and robust curves tool for FC Pro?
Preferably with R, G and B modification areas displayed at the same time.

The (15 minutes ago) downloaded Demo-Version of Effect Essentials crashes continously. I decided to forget about it…

I also tried Color Finesse which gives very good results, but launching the separate interface anytime for doing simple curves is VERY annoing. And the possibility to compare the result only with prerendered clips is too much of a workaround.

@synthetic aperture: give us your toolset as simple filters – i buy it immediately! 🙂

By the way: I could not find any shortcut yet, that opens me immediately the filters of a selected clip. Anyone knows?

    Thanks for any suggestion

The only CC plugin I know of with curves is Color Finesse. And yes, launching into a new application and interface is a pain, and trying to color match scenes is a tad difficult when you can’t see them side by side. A bit better integration into FCP would be nice, but I don’t see them doing that.

    Darn it all.

In Film Effects, you get some nice curves too, but they’re limited to nice looking curves only – you can’t bend them to make a real mess like you can in Photoshop. Similarly there are curve options in the levels plugins in Set 1, and they work similarly, but give RGB or Y’CbCr options.

AH! I forgot about that part of your plugin!

I shall have to do some more playing…

    Yes,

I was gonna mention Film Effects, anymore that’s about all I use for color correction and levels, most excellent controls, plus you end up with only one filter on the clip, so rendering is a bit faster.

Same thing here. The 3way CC is great for quick fixes, but not for precise color correction. Since I started to learn and work on Avid DS, i’m scratching my head when I go back to FCP and I need to do color correction. But even XPress have a better color corrector than FCP…

maybe they should fix the media manager first, tho 😉

    Thanks for all your answers!

Well, Film Effects is very powerful(respect), but i simply prefer curves. 🙂
With them i exactly know what I’m doing, mainly if i have to match shots together.

I even tried to put the Curves from After Effects into the plugin folder of FC – Error: “Unable to find Curves….” :-p

I’ve never tried out FXBuilder, but there is no ‘curve’ under the inputs, so no possibility to build my own curves with – right?

Hmmm. Has anyone of you tried out the Essential Effects – stable?

Sorry for boring anyone with my ‘curved’ head 😉

    Greetings

    Alex

yes the color finesse/FCP interface is a little quirky (i never got it to run smoothly) but you can create reference images to color match scenes – its a very well implemented feature, as is the curves panel

Check out Effects Essentials Plugs. They have curves, quite nice too.
