Can you render the movie on the powermac? Full movie, not RAM preview.

Give more info. You are running audio out of FCP and and is StPro set up to output your vid and aud through the Kona as well? Where does the audio from the BOB go? Is STPro set up to record and giving you the feedback loop? How is your system set up? If you turn off the STPro output preferences, does the feedback stop?

Nest the sequence into a regular (not anamorhoc) 4:3 timeline and it should adjust for you. If not select the nest, hit return (to load it in the viewer), click open the motion tab and twirl down the distort parameter. Change the ‘aspect’ value to -33.33.

1) Look at the top right of your timeline and see if linking is on or off (there’s a button for it). SHift L will turn it on or off. If it is on, turn it off.
2)You must learn to use autoselect. Some people hate it, some people love it. Coming from Media 100, I personally think it’s a pretty cool feature once you figure it out. The autoselect boxes are the little boxes to the right of the track selectors on the left of the timeline. You need to select the tracks where you want to copy the footage to. Let’s say your footage is on v1, and a1a2 and you want to paste into v2 and a3a4. If you option-click the v2 autoselect box (option-click selects only the v2 box and turns the other off) and then option-click the a3, then regular click the a4 autoselect boxes, your clip should now paste into those tracks. Make sense? It sounds much more complicated than it is, but once you learn it, it’s a pretty sweet feature. Post back if you have issues.

Open up the mixer and do the panning from there. You must first select all the tracks and make them all mono, or as I like to say “Unstereo Pair” them which you can do from the modify menu. Be prepared to remix the session as your music will be louder since you are essentially doubling it up.

You know, at least this means they are listening (I’m remaining optimistic here). Glad to know that Apple, with it’s gaining popularity, is not a huge Ivory Tower…..yet. It seems that if they are aware and also acknowledge this problem, they might be fixing it (again, I’m trying to remain optimistic).
What about the end where they are talking about removing the subclip limits? I can’t try it myself today as the 1200s gone. It seems they want you to drag your clips into a new bin, batch redig, and then remove the subclip limits. They recommend doing this if you need to batch capture stuff that is already edited into a timeline. Not a perfect solution but a solution none the less. Better than reediting the whole piece when it’s time to go uncompressed.

Yeah, no problem. the io will be a great companion to your Kona 2 when you need to ingest analog. The io will transcode your video and audio to SDI and then all you need to do is hook up your kona2 to the io. You will need to run the io control panel and set up your inputs. I use this situation all the time from my Kona 2 machine to another machine that is hooked up to a Beta SP deck and it works just dandy.
Have fun and post back if you have any other questions. I guess it can be a bit of a mind screw as you learn all of the different setups and routing, but once you know, you know it. You can also setup custom presets if you only use a certain setup or two. I have done this and it beats searching through the seemingly endless presets provided by apple and aja, especially since you have an io and a kona 2 on the same system. I would suggest editing and monitoring out of the kona 2 as the delay is a lot speedier than editing with the io, although editing with the io is not a bad experience either. Also, make sure you are running the latest software and firmware updates that are downloadable from AJAs website.

Nope, output is sent to the io via the firewire pipe, and all of the different output options are active at all times when the io is in the ‘out’ mode. You really have to only worry about which input you are choosing as all of the inputs are not active at the same time.

All outputs should be active at all times, Plug something in and see if it works.

You are probably seeing the difference in gamma between RGB photoshop (you are working RGB, correct?) and YUV FCP. You need to fix the gamma using the gamma filter in FCP.
